As though if the media did not make these projections the race in Florida would not be so close.

I don't care much for the mainstream media, but it is kind of pathetic to watch them take this bashing and even heap it on themselves for this.

To suggest that it is wrong to make projections because they later need to be revised or because they turn out to be wrong is the same as saying it is wrong to air a weather forecast because sometimes they have to be revised and sometimes they are just wrong.

Of course I have no problem with suggesting that some of these projections may have been made wrong because the networks were each in a hurry to declare winners and they might be better off waiting for more results before making most projections.

Unfortunately some people don't seem to understand that last nights figures were projections and I've already seen postings from people who think something is fishy in Florida because Florida was "taken away" from Gore. These people seem to think that 9:00 PM Gore was officially declared the winner in Florida and then Jeb Bush changed it.

Unfortunately these people are allowed to vote.
