I had to go to Las Vegas in April to work the drag races at the speedway. Airfare was $80 cheaper if I flew in a day earlier than I needed to. I could get a room at the South Point for that one night @ $35.00, and with the free shuttle I wouldn't have any other transportation expenses, so I flew out a day early. It was an early evening flight, but it got delayed just enough for me to miss the 8:00 shuttle. No biggie. I was just glad to be back in Vegas, and rather than pop for a $25.00 cab ride I hung out at the airport and caught the 9:30 shuttle.

When I checked in, I was more than a little concerned because even though I had prepaid for the room, they put a $100.00 hold on my debit card and told me that it could take as long as two weeks for it to show back up in my account depending on my bank's procedures. That left me with a $130.00 bank roll. For 5 days in Las Vegas...

I dropped my luggage off in the room, headed downstairs and went straight to the Island Bar. I was playing 25 cent bonus poker with a progressive on the royal. Less than a half an hour after I checked in, I hit that progressive royal for $1784.25! That made the next five days much better. I managed to come home with almost all of that jackpot still in my pocket.
