Recently my husband and I were discussing the problem, and I'd been considering getting the medicine bottles. Sounds like that might be worse than the boxes. We decided not to get any good dice on this trip, simply because we didn't want to invest a lot into something that is prone to self-destruction.
Shortly before he died, Jeff Laudeman was experimenting with some chemical that was available to the film industry to help preserve old films. Seems to me it was some kind of crystal or powder that was stitched into a small fabric bag that would be placed in the storage container with the film...it's been a long time, though, so I'm not sure.
I wonder if these Desert Inn dice have been treated with anything...
