Re: 40 Year Old Souvenir of Las Vegas

Hi Steve,
Thanks for sharing a piece of History involving my town.
Gus Giuffre was a local TV and radio personality. He is deceased. A friend of Bob Stupak, Gus started "Dine Out Las Vegas". A program where you purchased a booklet of tickets to various local and casino gourmet rooms. You would purchase one dinner and the second dinner was free. I believe the cost was $20.00 when it first started. You would get 40 or so tickets with an early bird sign up.

You could always find Gus at Vegas World since the offices to "Dine Out Las Vegas" were located upstairs. He would wander around the casino talking to customers and hawking his dine out program.

Gus also was involved with the local broadcast of the Jerry Lewis Labor day program. Up until his death he was one of the early "casino people" who believed in giving customers - Value!

He was also involved with the dice clocks and I believe he met Stupak when Bob ran the programs (time share) in downtown Las Vegas. Many people do not know that it was Stupak who started that "giveaway".

I don't remember the exact year Gus died; but when he died a huge part of Las Vegas died with him! Best, Jim

P.S. Many of us locals who have lived in this town for nearly 30 years miss the way it used to be.
