I remember them being called "Sic Sacs" back in the day. Barf bag being too crude of a term to mention on a flight. Before the advent of jets (and falling door panels) flights from New York to Miami took over six hours and I would regularly need to use the sack. My mother had to make sure there was one available in front of my seat. Sometimes a few were missing (avid collectors back then, too?)
I really gotta salute the steadfast stewardesses who had to carry away the filled sacks . . . somewhere. I do not know and do not care to know.
