This reminds me of some lower mintage coins, which as soon as dealers and collectors discovered they had low numbers... everyone saved them. So they aren't as uncommon or valuable as mintage might suggest.

With people hoarding Trop. chips, we should see a supply for a long time, at reasonable prices, once supply and demand takes over.
