A few years ago, a buddy of mine, Sal, caught a severe case of the casino chip bug. We talked about collecting, chips, casino history, and thoroughly enjoyed the little round discs so many of us treasure. He was so excited to find a Big Al's casino chip and gave it to me after I told him about the tiny club I visited once while staying at the Showboat in Las Vegas for the Amateur Bowlers Tournament in 1980. Sal also gave me one of his "Gambler's" chips when he found some traders, and I knew exactly how he felt diving into the hobby. Unfortunately, Sal passed shortly thereafter, but I know he loved his new hobby, and I still do too.
I just wanted to share the photo and story, because it wouldn't be nearly as fun without the excitement and stories from many collectors and historians who have shared so much with the community over the years. Thank you!
