This message is a repost from the CCA's Message Board...
CCA Members,
It occurs to me that by it's very nature, an election is a contest of conflict. A fractionalization of sorts, which hopefully will be short lived and repaired following the election.
I have noted that my opponent has posted a message on TheChipBoard, stating that I (his opponent) have granted others to attack him by "presenting distorted and one-sided accusations." Nothing could be further from the truth! I have not and will NOT coerce or otherwise try to control anyone into making any kind of statements for me, and more importantly, against my opponent. Apparently, my opponent has no qualms with accusing me of something I have not done. So I ask, who is running a smear campaign?
And speaking of a "smear" campaign, while conducting one is against my principles, I have NOT been asked, and accordingly, could not have agreed to not conducting a smear campaign. But again, doing so is NOT my way of campaigning. However, to falsely state that I committed to something that I did not, and then accuse me of breaking the agreement for the actions of other's, is a falsehood. I challenge my opponent to prove when and where I "pledged" to such a condition.
Lastly, I have not refused a debate. I have placed some reasonable requirements on the process, which have been refused by my opponent. Namely, neither he nor I, should have anything to do with contacting anyone to be a moderator, for obvious reasons of our possible bias's, not to mention how honored a selectee might be, to be asked. Yet, my opponent did just that, without even giving me the courtesy of knowing in advance. I told my opponent that I will NOT accept anyone for which he contacted to be a moderator, nor would I seek out anyone to be a moderator.
In keeping with my many, years-long belief, that Club matters belong on the Club's Message Board, I have posted this message there, where it belongs in it's initial posting. Having done so, I now post this here on TheChipBoard, and will perhaps do so elsewhere.
I thank you for your time in reading this statement and respectfully request your vote for Vice President.
Jim Follis
