Longer read the chipboard.
Even the simplest post seems to cause controversy.
However I wanted to respond to several questions I have read today concerning my election post a few days ago.
1) The Election Reports have ALWAYS been posted on just the club board and just noted on the chipboard.
It has been done this way for many, many years and all I did was follow the exact same process that my predecessors had done. Nothing more nothing less.
2) I personally believe and have always believed that club business should be posted and discussed on the club board. I know some people feel differently and that’s fine but as a prior board member and volunteer in numerous positions for longer than I can remember, that’s my opinion.
3) I know the new club board takes some getting used to. For old timers like myself, it is a big change.
However the club listened to the many people who pushed for a new updated message board similar to what is being used on a lot of other sites. This gives a lot more flexibility in separating topics and believe me once you get used to it, it’s actually pretty nice.
4) logging in for the first time can be a bit of a pain. I actually experienced that myself.
But after I logged on there was a button to allow members to continue to be logged in forever. I have been back to the board many times since I first signed up and never had to log in again.
5) I honestly can’t understand why it would be important for a non member to see information about a club election. Non members can’t vote in an election so why even bother to know the candidates.
Obviously whomever wins the election will be posted in numerous locations and I am sure in many posts on the chipboard.
6) I have talked with a LOT of non members over the years and I always ask them, why have the decided to not become a member? The top answer in many cases is there isn’t a benefit they see to them.
So with that being said, I am 100% on board with the club trying to create new member only benefits.
Allowing access to limited functions on the club board is one of those.
Anything that can make membership more of a benefit to members only I see as a good thing.
7) information on the election will be posted eventually in other locations as well. In the club magazine and in the newsletter. Both those sources like the club board are managed and distributed by the club.
The chipboard is not.
Just some things to consider and there is no intention in this post to be confrontational or disrespectful to anyone. In fact the vast majority of those posting I consider good friends.
Hope that answers some questions and now I will go back into hibernation until the election results are in……
