Skippy was quite a character with his Bolo ties and his out going manner.
I knew "Skippy" for many years and every time we saw each other we would shake hands and instantly begin to chuckle over a chip deal we had made years ago.
Skippy had the distinction of selling me a Hard Rock Roulette chip for $1000 - far and away the most I have ever paid for a single Casino Chip.
Skippy had the chip for many years and he knew that I needed it to complete my 14 piece set of Hard Rock original #ed Roulette chips. I made him several offers over the years to buy the chip but he would just say - "I think I will hold on to it."
Out of the blue one morning I received an email from Skippy that read simply - "Jerry, $1000 Skippy". I knew instantly what the email meant. I emailed him back "OK" and sent him the $1000. My set of Roulettes was finally complete and I now had a story to tell for the rest of my chipping days. By the way I had acquired the other 13 chips by "Harvesting", trading and buying them for a grand total of around $400.
Every time I look at that Hard Rock Roulette chip or tell the story of how I acquired it - I just chuckle to myself and remember Skippy !!
Rest in Peace my old friend.
Take care,
Jerry
