This was advertised as being Bone and even when I sent the ad to some chippers asking if they thought it was Ivory, all responses were that it looks like bonel. Very little Ivory is found from France.

This chip sat on PCF for over seven months... Not the first sign of Ivory even though mentioned in the post.
The seller finally listed it on eBay.

Celluloid-typs plastics I the late--1800s replaced Ivory. Exists, examples of those with exact graver work as seen in Seymoir's codes and I doubt they were made to dupe anyone back then.
Some of us uave. European chips and plaques where those who have been collecting over 30 years (including me and other posters here) cannot tell the difference due to both bleaching and intentional pigmentation which was acceptable.
Here is an example of Bone that looks just like Celluloid.
