You can barely see in one of the photographs that there is a white chip with four edge spots. Impossible to tell what the mold was, but by the late 1990s most California chips were Paulson H & C or T. R. King small crown chips. My guess is that they are initialed hot stamp chips. If they were inlaid, with the name of the club and the city, they would have shown up in the hobby already.
Interesting that the chips were never identified in Eastman's 1998 chip book, in the online Staeffler California Card Room/Chip guide, or in any of Armin Pfaender's California Chip guides.
