Sometimes that is what you have to do. If you don't go in person you may continue to have the same problem. I got lucky one time and managed to get the actual phone number of the local post office. I always tell them that they can make whatever rules they like but they then have to play by those rules. If they allow a rigid envelope that is less than 1/4" thick to be sent for a $.40 premium that the need to allow it. If sending a chip just make sure that it IS less than 1/4" thick. I made a cardboard cutout to ensure this (as well as 3/4" for the large envelopes). Cindy also gives our carrier a $20 tip every Christmas and I think that may be one reason we don't get any shi# from them
