IMEX had a 250 table huge coin show here in Nashville today so I decided to go. And this time I was "smart" enough to prepare. So I had my silver strike and silver token reference books with me. I decided to keep the TCR at home with the wife near the phone for "emergency" calls (it added too much weight to my bag). Early on I found a $.25 chip from the New Frontier that was marked 500. Didn't know if it was $5.00 or $500. I called Cindy and after a lot of discussion found out that it was a "V" rated chip but they were asking high TCR value for it ($500). I passed on that one. The bad news? That was the only casino collectible at any of the tables! One dealer told me that there was a guy with a pile of silver strikes but I never did find him. The good news? I have been collecting scrap gold for a few years now from my jewelry hunts at estate sales and every time I want to take it to a local guy to cash in the price of gold has dropped. Not today. Gold was at $1994 per ounce this morning and I was ecstatic when one dealer told me he would give me 95% of real value. Normally I am lucky to get 90% and was even happier when he peeled off 64 Benjamins for me. Not bad for 7 ounces of gold, most of which I only paid a few dollars per piece. I guess I need to plan another trip after we get back from our leaf viewing cruise to Canada.
