The Green Shack was one of my regular stops in the 70s and
80s usually to have a beer and sometimes to have their chicken
dinner. The live gaming was gone but they did have bar-top
poker machines. They had some old photos of the place including
the casino on display. I remember finding a few 50 cent and $5
chips at a local coin shop. I can’t verify it but I heard that Clara
Bow used to patronize the place and sometimes dance on the bar.
I was told that, during prohibition, you could get a bottle at their drive-thru
window. Many dam workers would stop by on their way to work.
The last time I drove by the sign was still standing.
