Likely a 1940s USPC Co. chip.

I think if that chip has a 1 and 1/16th" inlay it has to have been made by the USPC Co., probably in the 1940s, as I don't think they were making chips anymore in the 1950s.

I don't think Burt ever used an inlay over 1 inch wide. From what I understand, Atlantic Standard Molding (ASM), which bought Burt in the 1980s, re-introduced the 1 and 1/16th" inlay in the early 1990s. (If anyone knows of a Burt chip with a larger than 1 inch inlay, please let me know.)

A lot of what I understand about the history of Crest and Seal chips, and their differences over time and by manufacturer, come from correspondence with Richard Hanover, who is the true expert on these chips. If he sees this thread, it would be great to get his opinion.
