WHEN I LIVED IN CALIFORNIA (1996-2006) I LIVED ABOUT 12 MILES FROM OCEANS ELEVEN. IT WAS A STRAIGHT SHOT NORTH FROM THE SANTA FE ROAD EXIT TO THE MISSION BLVD EXIT IN OCEANSIDE. I WAS THERE WHEN THEY OPENED IN FEB. 1997 AND
I IMMEDIATELY ENJOYED THIS CARD ROOM. THIS HAPPENED JUST SHORT OF THE TRAVEL CHANNEL INTRODUCING POKER TOURNAMENTS ON TELEVISION. OCEANS ELEVEN WAS PREVIOUSLY A BOWLING ALLEY, THEY REFITTED IT BEAUTIFULLY, THERE ARE PAINTINGS ON THE WALLS OF THE ORIGINAL DANNY OCEANS ELEVEN. PLUS THERE ARE AWESOME PHOTOS (LARGE PHOTOS) EVERY WHERE YOU LOOK. IT IS A CLASSY PLACE. AND MORE THAN ONCE I HAVE BEEN SITTING AT THE BAR WAITING FOR A SEAT AT MY FAVORITE TABLE, AND ONE OF THE OWNERS HAS STROLLED IN AND BOUGHT ME A DRINK. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WAS MY FAVORITE PLACE TO GO WHILE I LIVED IN THE SAN DIEGO AREA.
ONE MORE REAL PERK WAS THAT THERE NEVER WAS A PROBLEM BUYING CHIPS FROM THE CAGE OR THE DEALERS. THE ONLY CHIP I HAVE EVER HAD A PROBLEM GETTING WAS THE GRAND OPENING CHIP. THEY WERE LIMITED AND THEY WERE GIVEN TO EACH DEALER WHEN THEY STARTED TO WORK. I AM NOT SURE WHEN THEY RUN OUT OF THESE.
HERE IS ANOTHER CASE OF; THERE NEVER WAS AN ISSUE IN GETTING THE CHIPS NEEDED FOR A CONVENTION IN LV, OR A TRADE SESSION IN HOLLYWOOD WHEN I WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE SO-CAL CLUB.
A DEALER AT THE NAPLES G H TRACK KEEPS IN TOUCH WITH LONNIE THE SWING SHIFT SUPERVISOR (WHO WAS A DEALER WHILE I STILL LIVED THERE) AND KEEPS ME OPPRISED OF THE SCUTTLEBUT FROM MY OLD HAUNT. (A FLORIDA-CALIFORNIA CONNECTION) *Note this dealer no longer deals here.
THIS WAS TRULY A FINE PLACE TO CUT YOUR TEETH ON THE GAMES OF CHANCE, IF YOU ARE SO INCLINED. I LOVED THIS PLACE!!! REGGIE
