I believe Windows on the World was atop the north tower. A walkway to the south tower would have only led to a quicker death.
Also, most tall buildings, had a “fire proof” floor where tenants were advised to assemble in case of fire. I believe tenants of the WTC were told to assemble at the 78th floor. When I worked on the 80th floor in the WTC I was told NOT to try to exit the building in case of fire but to go to safety on the 78th floor. I wonder how many people died listening to that advice.
