Beware of scam emails going out to Club members...

The CCA Board currently has 4 documented instances of scamming emails, directed towards 4 different CCA Director/Chairs, pretending to be from President Spragg, asking for money.

The following, 'what to do' precaution has been pulled from the internet and appears to be good advice.

Do not respond: Do not reply to the email or engage with the scammer in any way. Responding may confirm that your email address is active and could result in more scam emails.

Do not click on any links or download attachments: Scam emails often contain malicious links or attachments that can harm your computer or steal your personal information. Avoid clicking on anything in the email.

Mark it as spam: Most email providers have a "spam" or "report phishing" option. Use this feature to report the email as spam or phishing. This helps your email provider identify and filter similar scam emails in the future.

Delete the email: Once you've marked it as spam or phishing, delete the email from your inbox and your trash folder.

Block the sender: If your email provider allows it, consider blocking the sender to prevent future scam emails from reaching your inbox.

Check your accounts: If the scam email claimed to be from a legitimate organization or company, independently verify the information by visiting their official website or contacting them directly. Do not use contact information provided in the suspicious email.

Educate yourself and others: Scam emails are common, and it's essential to stay informed about different types of scams. Share your experience with friends and family to help them avoid falling victim to similar scams.

Update your passwords: As a precaution, it's a good idea to update your passwords regularly, especially if you suspect that your email may have been compromised.

Monitor your accounts: Keep an eye on your financial accounts and personal information for any unusual activity. If you notice anything suspicious, report it to the relevant authorities immediately.

Consider reporting to authorities: If you have suffered financial loss or believe the scam is particularly harmful, you can report it to your local law enforcement agency or a relevant consumer protection agency.
