Doug,
In todays technical world us, and I hate to say it, older, less technical guys, like to see things stay the same. The younger generation of hobbyists and interested folks probably don't see or are not informed of the benefits of being a member of the CCA.
Its a what am I getting for my money world more than ever.
My suggestion is to be informative of what membership does for the member. Telling fellow members the benefits of membership isn't the same as telling perspective members.
Most people I talk to ask what the benefits of membership are and really I sometimes struggle to explain it to them.
Is it the Show in June? No need to be a member to attend that....
Is it the Magazine? Definitely NOT. The younger generation wants digital content not printed content.
You surely don't need membership to collect chips etc.
Has anyone ever studied the demographics of membership, like the median age of our members? This may be a good place to start if you want to grow the club. Clubs of all kind are struggling with this issue, Kiwanis, Lions, Eagles, Elks and so on.......
This is just the tip of the problem. Marketing is the key, maybe a consultation with someone in marketing could help.
Just my 2 cents
