And I’m only mentioning it as it seems applicable to things that a couple of people have been saying recently. As I say, it’s just what I’ve heard although I’m not sure if it’s true but it is possibly appropriate at this time so I thought I’d share.
Supposedly, there is a playbook that a certain type of person utilises to fool, trick, brainwash, manipulate and generally prey on the masses although mainly used on the vulnerable, gullible and people who are susceptible to believing things that they normally wouldn’t but I’m sure there are other groups like people who want to believe whatever they are told as it resonates with them and others who will just about believe anything at all, I suppose. I expect there are many that are just tricked into believing things as they sound “right.”
Allegedly it was mainly compiled by people like Roy Cohn, Roger Stone and other such odious people plus it seems that the author of Mein Kampf’s techniques and tricks play a large part too as they were very effective. Most of them are obvious like deflect, project, deny, lie and generally use alternative facts to create a false narrative and general confusion to create a smokescreen but I expect there are many other things involved that do the same sort of thing. Attacking people, hyperbole, projecting your faults onto others by calling them names (psycho, deranged, crooked, lying, corrupt, dumb, stupid, low energy, just to name a few) with no evidence whatsoever offered to back up the claims. The more times they are repeated, the more likely some people are inclined to believe them. Doubling down on obvious lies even though they are easily fact-checked and debunked seems to be a favourite one as is contradicting stories that seem to confuse matters so much that people don’t know what to believe anymore. Misquoting people by either adding words (or missing key words out) or taking them out of context seems to be another effective tool in the arsenal. Stating things that are blatantly false and ignoring questions that you don’t like seems to be another popular one. Stating something stupid and then just moving on to the next ridiculous statement works well too. Also twisting words said by others so that they mean something totally different. I’m sure there are many other similar tricks but they are the main ones I’ve heard about.
Mainly used by authoritarian leaders, cults and people who just want to control other people’s lives but they can be effective if used by others too. Even MSM use some of them to great effect although most of their stories will be based at least partially in fact but worded so to scaremonger people.
I don’t know how true any of it is but there are obvious parallels to a couple of people I can think of offhand hence my mentioning it here.
As I’ve said, just what I’ve heard and I don’t know how true it is but much of it sounds plausible.
