They used the term jetons for what you Americans call roulette chips.
The term is not important and not static as you see. It changes.
The term roulette chip was not used, we called them "kleuren jetons".
"Welk kleurtje wenst U?" was the first question most of the time because people have favorite colors.
The biggest difference was that color chips/ jetons (roulette) are only of value on the table (or if you collect them, LOL).
In Belgium you could cash them in at the cashier at the lowest table minimum if the table was closed. In that timeperiod, 50 BEF. (circa $1 25 cents)
