For somebody to claim that they introduced a word to the hobby that has been in common usage for 100s of years, at the very least, is absurd.
It’s up there with claiming to have invented the expressions “fake news” (first usage in 1890s) or priming the pump (1933 or so).
Jeton does not translate as chip but casino chip translates as casino jeton in the same way that plate does not translate to plaque but plaque translates to plate.
Yes, jeton does mean token and counter but in the context of how it is used in the hobby it is a certain type of gaming item. Are you suggesting that we may as well put them all together? Tokens, jetons and chips. Why stop there, you may as well put plaques in there too.
We called them for what they were (as all dealers do which you would know if you'd ever actually dealt), chips not tokens unless metal. And yes, I was a dealer who won competitions and was well regarded for many reasons so your stupid comment is exactly that, stupid.
