I found myself in Yerington with a growling stomach. Figuered it would take me at least a couple of hours to drive into Carson City . . . so I stopped at the Pioneer Crossing to scout out chips and food. To my pleasure, I was able to buy some $1 and $5 chips from a card table. And, I saw it was Buffet Night (think this was a Friday or Saturday.) To my greater pleasure, the spread was extensive and inexpensive, so I had a great dinner after all. Surprising but then again - the good folks of Yerington had to have someplace to chow downington. After the feast, I returned to the card tables, intent on buying a $25 chip that I had seen in play. But this time . . . another table dealer, perhaps a Pit Boss, spotted me and yelled, "We NEVER sell to collectors. Get out!"
And out I went. Tried Dini's Lucky Club down the street - it was slots-only so Lucky I was not.
I dson't know if enough years have passed before I dare show my face in town again.
