When our kids were young we were staying at Circus and wanted to take advantage of some great food offer at Sahara. Despite it being 118 degrees outside the four of us foolishly decided to walk over to Sahara. After the meal we were going somewhere else but the car was still in the garage at circus. It was so hot and Cindy and the kids refused to walk back so I had to take a cab back to Circus just to get the car and pick them up. During the same trip we were going to see the Grand Canyon and we got several miles east of Hoover Dam (out in the middle of nowhere) when Cindy decides that she has to go to the bathroom. There is a sign that say there is a gas station or something 5 miles to the right. No big deal right? Only problem was that it was 5 miles straight DOWN. Again it was like 110-115 degrees outside and after the stop the poor rental car got about 200 yards from the top and main highway when it starts bucking like crazy from the engine overheating. We had to turn off the A/C and baby the car the last few yards and fortunately it recovered and cooled off. It would not have ended well if the engine had died since we were not really prepared for a long wait for help.
