Maybe just needs a structure tweak...

I assumed the "Kill the MOGH" mantra was mostly directed at the physical museum/building project. I don't think anyone is wanting to stop the traveling displays or the Chip Guide.

I've often been a little confused about what exactly the MOGH Board did vs the CCA Board. I understand the need for a whole entity if we are running a museum enterprise, but now that the scope is narrower, do we really need a whole different entity? A committee, sure, but a whole thing of its own with its own memberships and products?

Personally, I think absorbing it into the CCA is cleaner. When we promote the displays, it seems the "Museum of Gaming History" is more prominent than the CCA. I know they roll up to the same thing, but the layman likely won't. I'd rather see the Casino Collectibles Association as the only thing being advertised.

Now, about your concern that we are going to have to replace the MOGH with another committee... you are right. It can't be run by one person. I believe the club is likely already running like this, but at the association I work for, we have distinct product lines (silos) with one person "in charge", but many people behind them. I think the MOGH would be perfect as to represent the "Education/Outreach" branch of the CCA, which would have one person as the high level oversight (maybe a BOD member?). No longer will there be separate MOGH and CCA initiatives, they are all just the "CCA".

I would envision a CCA structure as something like:

CCA (President)
- Conference (Conference Chair)
- Education/Outreach [prior MOGH] (BOD - Vice-President??)
- Publications (BOD - Secretary??)
- Membership (BOD - Membership)
- Administration
---- Finance (BOD - Treasurer)
---- Marketing
--------- General (??)
--------- Social Media (Social Media Director)
---- Sales (??)
---- Inventory Management (??)
---- Web Services (Barry Sherwood)

...etc

All this JMHO. I know how much work has gone into the MOGH and CCA. I also know that past promises of memberships and pledges have been made and shouldn't be dismissed out of hand, but at some point we have to go with what is best for the future. Not everyone will be happy.
