There is just too much negativity being posted about Chipguide. I have used this resource in several ways to improve my chip collecting hobby. The query function and the trade maker function, available to CCA members, have been very useful tools to obtain chips on my want list and to trade or sell chips on my trade list. The limitation of these tools is the small number of collectors that invest the time to load their collection inventory into the database. If new and prospective collectors could be mentored on how to use this resource they might be more willing to maintain a CCA membership to grow their collection. The effort to create a trade list and a want list from your collection inventory can be a daunting task for someone with a vast collection but fairly easy for a new collector just starting a collection. I spent more than a few weeks about 2 years ago loading my several thousand chip collection into the Chipguide but that effort has been very beneficial and I just wish I had done it sooner. Now I can generate a report of a specific category of my trade list ( like chips from a certain state, denomination, mold, color, etc.), save it as a pdf file with or without images, and send it to a prospective trader/buyer for their review. This task takes mere minutes to do. I do advise the person that the images are from Chipguide and I will provide scans of my actual chips before confirming a trade/sale.
