Theme is developed by the Convention Chairman, in conjunction with the Board. However, I have also seen it where the Board (or President) selects a theme based on a contest, asking for members suggestions. The process is rather free form and I agree with you, the earlier the better.

This years theme, in celebration of our 30 Annual Conventions, did not translate well into table decorations and other festivities, but hopefully, next years theme will. Your suggestion of Halloween, is similar to another suggested theme, also capitalizing of the number "31", but in a reverse image as "13" and the subject being triskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia by it's very nature would be inclusive of Halloween, plus many other elements.

I would hope that the Heller's would then be inclined to bring one of their cats, as a mascot!

In the meantime, you, as well as other members can send your suggestion(s) to the Board.
