I attended the business meeting Saturday for the 1st time and wanted to say how pleasantly surprised I was! It was impossible to not notice the anger, vitriol, & acrimony playing out on this forum leading up to the convention. While shopping on the floor I even heard angry comments. While I'm not important in the management or direction of the CCA, I went to the meeting to try to help deescalate any discussions that became too heated to serve any real purpose.
Instead, I felt that some progress may have been made to move forward. I appreciated the statements made re: a new website & Charles changing the ChipGuide usage policy. There were a couple of opportunities for the discussions to digress into more heated exchanges, but ultimately everyone kept their cool.
Ultimately, we are the Casino Collectibles ASSOCIATION. An association is "a group of people organized for a joint purpose." I want to feel that, while we don't always have to agree, we all DO have a common purpose. That purpose being a like-minded enjoyment of collecting casino memorabilia. As an "old," I understand a reluctance to change when things "used" to work. Change is required for progress. I hope the youth will be patient with us & not give up.
I loved the convention & can't wait to get back. Thank you to all the volunteers and also everyone who attended the meeting!
