I would like some help understanding and navigating the complexity of who's who.
The CCA, The Chip Board, The Chip Guide, The MOGH and on and on. When I joined the CCA to support what I thought was the definitive organization in the hobby and received my first magazine I guess I assumed that by the advertising and such including the appearance on this board and others that it was one happy family encompassed by the Club (CCA), Im seeing that I may be mistaken.
This BBS board The Chip Board, Is it Club Owned? or independent of the club owned privately by a member or its president (David S) for profit or non profit?
The MOGH, Owned by the club? Seperate from the club but controlled by the club? Its own entity? Say I wanted to donate my collection to the club, is that different than donating it to the Museum Of Gaming History? If it's different who owns the MOGH?
The Chip Guide, Owned by the club? Owned by the MOGH? or by an individual.
The Strike Point, A seperate club? within a club? Stand alone?
Slot Card BBS? Same question.
I know this seems strange to ask as many of you have been here and involved for quite some time and know the ins and outs of what's what and who's who but as a relative newcomer it is all quite confusing and I wonder if there is a simple explanation. This board seems to be the "Official Board" of the club and the way for members to communicate but maybe I am mistaken in that assumption, its just that I see many members refer to it as "Ours" like the do with the Chip Guide, etc.
To make informed choices in who gets my financial support I'd like some help with the data. If I belong to the CCA does that help the Chip Board? or the Chip Guide? and so on. Would advertising on the chip board help out the CCA? Advertising at the Chip Guide help the CCA? or are they all separate and separately supported by donations and ad money?
Thanks
Dan
Any easy explanation would help.
