Just got home from an exciting road trip and chip run! Today was grand opening day for the brand new (temporary) Caesars Virginia Casino.
The $650 million permanent building is under construction directly behind the temporary facility and is expected to open in late 2024.
The casino that opened today has a giant tent-like roof stretched over a brick and steel superstructure. The opening day crowds turned out early and reached all
the way to the end of the building in both directions.
Opening remarks and the traditional ribbon-cutting kicked off at 9:30 am - and the doors swung wide open for customers about 20 minutes later.
The interior of the new Caesars Virginia casino is ablaze with tons of shiny new slot machines, video poker options, and table games including blackjack and roulette.
Here are images of the chips - somehow the picture of the $25 chip was inadvertently deleted, so you'll just have to imagine it with the same design in medium dark green.
They also have a lilac-colored $500 chip which is slightly oversized - they would not let me take a picture of it. The chip inlays feature three smokestacks (still standing)
from the former Dan River Mills textile plant which used to occupy the casino site.
I have a limited number of $1, $2.50, and $5 traders/extras - please email me directly if interested.
