Helping Gene with this one was frustrating to say the least. With nothing much more to do, I’m going to re -open the file. A couple interesting things I’ve found just fooling around with the original story is as follows;
1) Goulet’s home at 313 York Street was torn down and rehabbed. It sold for $880,000 two year ago.
2) Next to his home at 323 York Street is a bar now called Tavern on York. The bar was once owned by Red’s pitcher, Tom Browning and originally a joint we frequented, often with Tito Carinci, a Newport mobster who ended up in an oil drum in Chicago.
As Gene used to say, “well, enough of that”. I’ll look into Goulet again. There are lot’s of new ways to research since the article was originally published.
