Might be the case in the US, but in UK/EU these sites only ask you to check a box confirming you are under/over the minimum required age. Data protection laws prevent them from collecting DOB's. Almost certain I've come across some US sites only asking that also?
UK Facebook gives you the option of adding your birthday which of course everyone does as it's the only way we ever remember them lol
