With all due respect, I don’t see how you can compare LE chips to fantasy or reproduction chips. Limited Edition chips are ordered by casinos and qualify as gaming equipment, they can be played on a table no different than any other casino chip. Limited Edition chips are as stated “Limited” they generally commemorate some type of event and have a purpose. A fantasy or reproduction chip is a souvenir item, they have been sold in gift shops for decades. Casinos that make 500 or a 1000 LE chips are certainly not getting rich on this. They actually supplement a casinos chip inventory. Most people that collect LE chips don’t do it to get rich, they do it because of the event. I would never tell anyone what to collect as I have known people that collect everything including fantasy chips. If you can buy LE’s for less than face, that may prove to be an opportunity. When the MGM orders $5.00 house chips, it can be in excess of a 100,000 chips. When they order a LE that commemorates an event it could be as little as 100 chips. Remember these are real chips that can be gambled, no different than the $5.00 house chip. Which will be scarcer in the future is obvious to me. Collect what you will and enjoy the hobby.
