Treasure Island is a famous adventure novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson and published in 1883. Clearly a
major influence on Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" and the Las Vegas resort casino of the same name, Treasure
Island was the first book to feature such "pirate traits" as the one-legged (or one-eyed) buccaneer with a parrot
on his shoulder and a buried treasure map with "X marks the spot."
