The beauty at PCF and other forums is that you can easily post a picture of a chip and ask its history or for verification of real or not and you will usually get dozens of responses and pointed to recourses to help validate the information.
Again, dead horse, I'd be more worried that GPI/Paulson can be dupped or just agrees to make real clay chips identical on the base to genuine obsolete chips with great value.... or the fact that Classic Poker Chips can make you a brand new Large Crown, Scrown or H mold chip that can be modified after purchase or at production with the simple addition of commemorative or open close dates added which seems to be scrutinized as well.........
Soon GPI/Paulson will stop making clay chips so that wont be a factor and china doesn't make clay chips, well not yet anyway. and regular folks cannot afford to buy a custom set at Classic Poker Chips of 600-1000 chips to have a playable set.
As a set collector I have to say I don't have a set I won't put in play. As for the guys/Gals who compile sets and dont play poker with them, I don't get that one either, but don't care what anyone does with their collectables. I mean look at Krish, self proclaimed to have 1/2 million chips, maybe more, you couldn't rotate them all into play if you played every day! Good on him! He loves them! has racks of chips that some singles guys would die to have just one chip but there sits the racks locked away! I am surprised there isn't a whole big bunch of complaining about that! But what would complaining accomplish.
In the end I say Know what your buying before you buy!
