There is no reason the request to attribute can't be done in a friendly and informative manner. It does have to done, unfortunately. It's not a discretionary thing for the Chip Guide. Maybe someone can help to devise a nicer way to let people know that the Chip Guide has to require attribution.

As for what happened on PCF, I really don't know, so I can't comment too much. I briefly looked at that thread and saw a huge amount of animosity toward that poster, but I really don't remember what that poster wrote.
