To all,
I am wondering what everyone's opinion is on what classifies as a new casino for an entry into the chipguide. As I am trying to reorganize my collection I am finding that some chip entries are listed all under a single casino name and others are broken down by who owned them.
So the obvious answer is when the casino changes names completely after it has been purchased. We see that will all of the Ballys renames over the last few years plus Ballys Las Vegas changing to Horseshoe.
Another good example of when we broke up the chips into separate casinos after being rebuilt or sold are the Aladdin entries under Nevada.
Under Aladdin there is 3 entries which I think correctly reflects the history of this casino.
Aladdin
Aladdin Resort and Casino
Aladdin Milton Prell.
However if you look under both Ameristar properties in Missouri we list all the chips under a single casino even though Boyd purchased the casinos in 2018. It is common practice that when a company buys an established casino that they issue new chips. Another example is Circus Circus in Las Vegas when MGM sold the property in 2019.
I know this causes a lot more work to add additional entries for a casino with the same name at the same location but in effort to make the chipguide more historically correct shouldn't we separate them into different casino. This will also help us to identify which chips are obsolete and current.
Would love everyone's input on this.
