The problem is when people who tout climate change say, it's long term, not just weather. Then forget their own words, when making their own short term claims and how we're all doomed. (we are all doomed, but not by the weather?)
History is repeating and science says it has happened before.
The Great flood of 1862 in the Pacific NW: "The weather pattern that caused this flood was not from an El Niño-type event, and from the existing Army and private weather records, it has been determined that the polar jet stream was to the north, as the Pacific Northwest experienced a mild rainy pattern for the first half of December 1861. In 2012, hydrologists and meteorologists concluded that the precipitation was likely caused by a series of atmospheric rivers that hit the Western United States along the entire West Coast, from Oregon to Southern California."

Now the end of the article says, "The likelihood of a massive flooding event is estimated to have been increased due to climate change" Oh Oh, there's the devil claims again.
"Geologic evidence has been found that massive floods, of equal or greater magnitude to the 1861–1862 event, have occurred in California roughly every 100 to 200 years." Which for someone who can read, would mean, not only has this happened before, it's likely to happen again.
The problem is building and developing and changing the nature of the area, taking away natural topography and geography, not the weather which is just doing what it naturally does and has done.
Flooding in Las Vegas is similar, when instead of the desert and open spaces, the area has been covered in concrete, that doesn't allow for water to seep but also creates rivers over the surface that send a mounting torrent of water, into confined spaces, and places with no drainage. Climate isn't the cause, development and construction has caused the weather problems.
A good old fashion flash flood in the desert would pass over the surface and run out. Now it's confined and channeled and turns into a destructive wave of flooding between buildings.
