I went to visit the sports book. Took a photo of one of the tables along the way, which brought out security. "Why are you photographing the table?" "I collect casino chips"
Two of them looked at me. Then of course, the whole show us some ID. "You look like someone who is banned from the casino." (oh really? I go there once a year on Veterans Day, hardly likely)
"OK delete the image from your phone." I looked, there was no image. Some kind of error, just a blank image. Then I fished out a card and gave it to him. The one that says "I collect casino chips..."
He says: "Well I guess everyone needs a hobby?" So I have a new quote from my chip hunting?
Meanwhile, I noticed some of the newer chips on the tables and tried to get some. The usual, we can't go through and pick them out, go to the cage. I go to the cage: "We aren't allowed to sell you chips." Back to the table, I just bought Three $5 and five $1. Then I saw the 50c were newer too, I asked for $5 worth. "We'd be short on chips if I did that" OK, how about $2 of 50c and $7 in $1? Nice lady with the supervisor watching, sad OK.
Back to the cage. They were nice and I asked which of the new designs were on the tables? Guy went back and asked someone else. Only the 50c, $1 and $5 were re-ordered. That saved me from sleuthing around for any $25. The $5 doesn't appear in TCG, which makes me guess two things. The new was the old design, or they haven't made it to the tables yet. New chips haven't made it in play or are the old design? 50ยข shows in TCG as 2019 and the $1 as 2021. No $5 yet?
I did buy in, in the poker room. Watched the tables. Nothing resembling the new chips, with the larger logo and bigger numerals.
Closest I could come is two very minute differences in the old design. Eagle wing possibly closer to the edge. Or maybe just a second set with different printing. Not enough to call it a variety for me.
Also the $1 variations, which I only collected three different, as they are Large $, S as a dollar sign and the smaller $. There's something in TCG that shows lighter colors. So I made a scan of a random sample off the tables. If anyone is collecting minor color variations, Good Luck.
