November 1,1936 was the last night of gambling on the Monte Carlo after which 2 caretakers were left on the ship till spring but a big storm broke her anchor chains and after the caretakers were rescued the ship broke apart and ended up on the beach (per the book Noir Afloat by Ernest Marquez)
