Hi Alex that’s a very good question when I had the gambling museum and store at the Tropicana hotel I had a charge 8 1/4% sales tax on all the chips I sold that was unfair since people can go to the cage and buy alleys or other chips and not pay any sales tax and take home these souvenirs … The Tropicana cage also had a poster showing chips available at the cage for sale years later Nevada state taxation board audited my store downtown and they couldn’t give me any definitive answers as to why casinos had privileges that other businesses did not with regards to retail sales and tax collection
