The Tonopah Club was one of the first places I ever played 21 in 1966. The dealer really knew
his way around a deck of cards. After he showed me the basics he taught me how to bet for
him and I usually won! There was full casino including keno and a cashier's cage with beautiful
brass bars as well as an ornate back bar. During the war years Tonopah was a lively place due
mainly to a large Air Force base nearby. There was also a red light district a block off Main St.
I would always stop in the Tonopah Club on trips through town. I was sad when it burned.
