Steve I went through chemo and radiation for my throat cancer a bit over 3 years ago now.
It wasn’t fun but doable and went through it well.
Eating became difficult and had to use codeine syrup before eating to eases the pain.
Ate a lot of zucchini, oatmeal, cottage cheese, split pea soup etc. Things easy soft but good for you.
Drink lots of water, more than you can stand because of the chemo drugs.
I put pure aloe Vera on my neck also from the radiation, not lotion, you can buy it in the sunburn lotion
area of a store.
I discovered mine by my lymph nodes on my neck being swollen for to long of a time with no infection
or sores anywhere, so wondered why. That started the investigation and biopsy and found cancer cells in my throat next to my vocal cords. I chose chemo and radiation over surgery, the main reason was I probably would have lost my voice and needed a voice box after, if it became that intrusive. They also focused radiation on my lymph nodes. I lost my taste for awhile and it destroyed my saliva glands but
not completely and they are starting to come back a bit but still have dry mouth but not as bad as first
and my taste is back almost 100%
I just always had a bottle water with me the whole time and still always carry one with me wherever I go. I drink water all day long.
Good luck and take care
Listen and do what the doctors say.
Oh yeah I did Cisplatin at first for chemo but it compromised my kidneys because there is Platinum in it
So they switched me to Ruebatex I know this isn’t the spelling but it can make your face break out but
safer to use for your kidneys. You might get an option so ask your doctor about them.
Good seeing you at the convention!!!
