ILLNESS TALE:
Before attending the June Convention 2022:
I had been staying safe and hiding in my HNL apartment since January 2020. That's when
our first HNL COVID-19 death was reported here.
A Senior lady and her two same age friend flew on Vacations HI to Vegas.
Upon her arrival back to HNL, she felt FLU like symptoms. hard time breathing.
Checked in to her hospital and died a few days later! We did not know about COVID-19!
Her two friends were fine.
I attended our CCA 2022 June convention a few weeks ago.
3 days before flying back to HNL, I felt sluggish, runny nose and coughing. I used an at home CV test in my SP room. Tested Negative.
I flew back and tested again in my apartment, this time POSITIVE.
I called my Primary Doctor, he called in to CVS: PAXLOVID by Pfizer.
FYI: He told me do not go in to the CVS store to pick up the PAXLOVID, BECAUSE THEY WILL ASK U IS IT FOR YOU??? IF YOU SAY YES, THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT! I had my Son pick it up.
I took all five days prescription and feel 90% better. Still have coughing and flam.
I was fully Pfizer vaccinated. All four jabs.
Chippers....Let me tell you, I was scared *^%#*less!
Many young chippers and some lolo senior chippers will tell you,,,it no be deal getting this new Cv variant. You won't die!
Tell that to the 10 to 15 Hawaii citizens dying of CV every week!!
Now I look back at my CV "catching it" experience: I am so very lucky to be alive! Why? I'm an old fart super Senior with several immune problems! I should have not gone to Vegas!
Sadly, I will forget about my CV illness come next June. Short term memory lost and old age.
Thank Goodness for yellow memo stick'm memo pads.
But seriously, if I attend next June. Here are whats I would do better:
AirFlights: upgrade my seats to first class or more spacious seats.
I did wear mask on both flights.
Buy take out from DelMars deli, hotdogs or steak and shake and eat in my hotel room.
I'd go out side the SP to bass in the Sun to get vitamin D.
Take my photos asap and get the heck out.
I was one of the few wearing mask. And yet I caught it.
I wonder how many other chippers caught CV???
Oh well, pass the beer nuts!
