Tomorrow is my favorite day of the year. The Indianapolis 500 takes place for the 106th time. I've watched, listened to, or attended every year since I was a kid growing up in southern Illinois. I was there every year from 1969(Mario Andretti's only win) through 1984. I have ticket stubs, race programs, matches, die cast cars, and I've owned three real pace cars, a 1969 Camaro, and a 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Convertible, and a 78 Corvette. I wait 364 days a year for that one spectacle. There is nothing else like being there when the flag drops and the 33 cars scream down the track into turn one. It sends chills down your spine. This year could be a very interesting race. I'm pulling for Ed Carpenter, he's never won, but always fast, and running out of time(he's 41) I would also like to see Marco Andretti in the winners circle. I think Jimmie Johnson will have a good race. I also think Romain Grossjean could kill himself or someone else. Anyway I hope for a safe race and I'll be up early watching the Purdue marching band.
