So...in my archiving effort I have high-quality scans of all Club Magazines going back to the first issue.
About a year ago I floated the idea of somehow cutting up the scans into articles, indexing each article with keywords and then allowing people to do a search.
For example if some wanted all articles about the Flamingo (or where the Flamingo was a significant subject, like say "Early Casinos on the Strip" article), they could run a query and all the articles would come up. They could then click on them to open the PDF.
Charles built the database for it and I worked on this for a while and proved it out. Unfortunately its a slow process to cut them up, tag them and enter them into a DB.
With all the questions floating around about the new club web site and who was working on it and Spragg's role I stopped working on it. If I have time this summer I will start back up. We can certainly link articles from there back to casinos in the MOGH.
Another idea that I had would be to collect some of the larger stories people have published over the years in various places (Andy Hughes's Nevada Casino Chips site, older chipper forums etc), reformat them into PDFs or something and use the same DB to index them. The possibilities are pretty open.
What do you guys think?
