I have accepted my nomination for the vacant CCA President position.

The position of President is best served by someone with a thorough knowledge of the workings of the Club, its legal requirements and its finances. Recent events have borne that out. As a current Board member who has currently served for 11 years, I believe I am best placed of all candidates to take on the position, having been considerably involved in just about all facets of Club business at some time or other. I also have a very good working relationship with the other Board members.

It is a tireless position, often occupying several hours a day, and requires someone reliable with considerable work hours time available. There are many projects that were discussed during the past couple of terms which were not brought to fruition, and I will make sure that does not happen again.

I will elaborate with a full candidacy statement in due course as the process commences. Right now my focus is, jointly with Jim Steffner, making sure all convention arrangements are finalised.

In advance, I therefore ask for your support by way of vote in the forthcoming election.

I will mention one issue now, to save the usual questions. A few people seem to think that my other business interests cause a conflict of interest. Well, aside from the fact that nothing changes in that I will remain a Board member regardless of the election outcome, I would have thought that my ability to supply goods (convention chips, plaques & pins) and services (website hosting) to the Club either free of charge or at cost (saving us perhaps $2000 a year) was a good thing.
I would also like to state that while entitled to some, and possibly contrary to the belief of some here, I DO NOT claim or receive any travel or hotel costs for any Club business. Neither do I claim any other expenses bar those mentioned above.
