Re: Remembering the Union Plaza baccarat room

Rich, that brings back a lot of memories. I worked at the UP when
Jerry came up with the “World’s Largest Baccarat Shoe”. I remember watching
the dealers “washing” (shuffling) all those cards before the shift. Jerry also
worked the dice pit and we got to be good friends. I also used to go in his
bar-it was a real dive for sure. He later had a bar on Sahara called the Frisco.
Saloon where the Mint is today. It was a lot nicer. He also had a boutique shop
in Commercial Square called Black Bart’s Unique Decor. He would dress like Bart
for Heldorado Days at the UP complete with two real six shooters. They don’t
make pit bosses like him anymore.
