When I was beginning my collection I would take home an average of 600 chips per year from the convention. I would get 100-200 from trade sessions and BUY the rest from dealers. Most of the time I would find chips on the dealers tables that came from trade sessions the day before. And like it was pointed out, most of the time the chips traded were valued at a few dollars each, not the hundreds or thousands that many dealers have.
